The Tech is looking for an experienced development professional to add to a high performing team. This individual will be responsible for our fundraising efforts primarily from individual donors. 

The ideal candidate is a numbers-driven fundraiser who has a can-do attitude and great spirit. We are seeking a strong team player and an experienced relationship builder who has a passion for education and great respect and understanding for The Tech’s role in inspiring innovators and serving the community.

The Senior Director, Major Gifts is a full-time, exempt position. This individual will oversee the Major Gifts Director and ensure success in achieving a combined revenue target of $3M+ raised annually from individual contributors. This position is primarily responsible for creating and implementing successful individual fundraising strategies. The Senior Director, Major Gifts will also personally cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of individual donors and prospects.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive plan for individual donors and prospects.

  • Manage the Major Gift Director and provide direction and support for their efforts with individual fundraising, Girls’ program fundraising and Planned Giving.

  • Create strategy for prospecting, cultivating and stewarding a portfolio of individual donors to ensure the highest engagement and participation rate while increasing annual gift giving levels.

  • Meet with donors face to face.

  • Renew current and lapsed donors while securing new donors.

  • Help to identify, research and solicit campaign prospects in partnership with the Vice President of Development and the President.

  • Oversee the execution of annual Inspiration and Leadership Circle events.

  • Manage quarterly donor solicitation, including calendar year-end and fiscal year-end fundraising.

  • Develop strategies to engage and convert members to individual donors.

  • Be knowledgeable of The Tech’s mission, exhibits, programs and long-range plans and stay current with the functioning of the entire institution in order to effectively communicate The Tech’s programs and vision.

  • Engage, motivate and align volunteer leadership with prospects. Track and follow up with progress and provide needed support.

  • Maintain and oversee the credibility of accurate and accessible database records and donor files for individuals.

  • Support all Development events as needed.

  • Develop and draft donor communications in collaboration with The Tech’s Media + Community team, including a newsletter and the Annual Report

  • Work closely with Tech for Global Good director to identify and assist in soliciting individual supporters. Help with audience development and day-of -event giving.

  • Work closely with Corporate Relations Director to solicit individuals to support The Tech Challenge.

Key Qualifications

  • Five or more years of progressive fundraising experience, including a role in Individual Giving. 

  • Extensive knowledge of personal cultivation and solicitations with demonstrated success in obtaining multiple gifts up to the $100,000 level.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present to potential and current donors and volunteers.   

  • Experience in developing successful plans, managing budgets and achieving goals on schedule.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to track and follow up with multiple, simultaneous projects.

  • Experience developing and maintaining donor databases and filing systems.  

  • Strong belief in The Tech’s mission to inspire the innovator in everyone.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and to adapt quickly to change.

  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
